I really wish people would understand that this, this statement, is the downfall of Jay Gatsby. This is not desirable. This book is a warning that you can’t ask someone for this. It’s not enough for Jay that Daisy loves him he needs her to say she never loved Tom. He wants it to be perfect he wants her to see he is perfect. Nothing is perfect ever. Just stop this idea of love that you have to be perfect because you don’t and you can’t be.
“I get way too sensitive when I get attached to someone. I can detect the slightest change in the tone of their voice, and suddenly I’m spending all day trying to figure out what I did wrong.”—Humans of New York - Amman, Jordan (via 5000letters)
